Hurricane Irma Claims

Hurricane Irma made landfall in the U.S. on September 11, 2017 as a Category 4 hurricane at Florida’s Cudjoe Key and then made a second landfall when it hit Marco Island.

With peak wind speeds of 185 mph, Irma is the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic. As the storm approached, NOAA warned people in the hurricane’s path to prepare for life-threatening winds, “dangerous storm surges” and flash flooding. All told, nearly 7 million people in the Southeast were told to shelter or evacuate. The storm’s impact was widespread. States affected include Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.

We’ll fight to recover the maximum compensation owed to you under the terms of your policy: 877-803-2897

Important Irma Deadlines:

Deadline for Filing a Flood Damage Proof of Loss:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued letters advising all policyholders that the deadline to file a Proof of Loss for Hurricane Irma flood damage claims has been extended to 365 days from the date of the loss.

Deadline for Filing a Flood Damage Lawsuit:

Depending upon the language of your flood policy, in most instances you have just one year from the date of your insurance company’s settlement offer or denial letter to file a lawsuit.

Deadline for Filing Property Damage Lawsuit (ie: wind):

Depending upon the language of your homeowners or commercial insurance policy, in most instances you have just two years from the date of your insurance company’s settlement offer or denial letter to file a lawsuit.

Was your home or business damaged by Hurricane Irma winds or storm surge?

It can take years to recover from the pain and destruction caused by a hurricane like Irma. Unfortunately, many storm survivors get victimized again during the recovery process – this time, by their insurance carriers who often use a variety of tactics to deny, delay or make exceptionally low offers for valid insurance claims. McDonald Law Firm has extensive experience in helping victims of natural disasters recover the maximum compensation available under the terms of their homeowner’s or commercial insurance policies.

Do you have Irma flood damage? It’s only covered if you have NFIP flood insurance.

Your standard home or business insurance policy does not cover flood damage. If your home or business sustained flood damage from Hurricane Irma, and you want to file a flood damage claim, you must have purchased separate flood insurance through the National Insurance Program (NFIP).

Did your insurance company deny your Hurricane Irma claim or offer a low-ball settlement for your damage?

It costs you nothing to find out if you have a case. Call for a free claim review: 877-803-2897.

Our insurance lawyers fight wrongful denials and unfair settlements. As part of our claim review process, we’ll…

  • Review the language of your insurance policy
  • Assess the damage to your home or business
  • Evaluate the reason for your insurance company’s decision

Once we’ve determined that you may indeed be owed more for your claim, we’ll give your insurance carrier the opportunity to resolve the situation. Usually, insurance companies are far more likely to respond to a lawyer, rather than to you alone. If we are unable to reach a fair resolution with your carrier, our next step may include moving forward with trial. Regardless, we’ll fight to recover the maximum compensation available to you under the terms of your home or business policy.

How much it will cost to hire an attorney?

Securing our legal services will cost you nothing out of pocket. We work on contingency fee basis, which means you never owe our firm any legal fees unless we successfully resolve your case through settlement or a trial.

Real people. Proven results.

Our insurance lawyers will work for you, not the insurance company: 877-803-2897

“very helpful”

I just wanted to thank you and your firm for being there when I needed you to be and for helping me out during one of the most difficult times of my life. Without your help I would have been at the mercy of FEMA, and we all know what that means. You have been very helpful, and everyone that I have spoken with at your firm was always courteous.

“very happy right now”

I just wanted to express my gratitude for all your efforts. I was getting nowhere fast trying to accomplish this on my own so I gave you a shot. You all were very methodical and kept me in the loop every step of the way. Would I have liked the process to be quicker? Yes, but I am sure you would also. In the end, I got more than I expected going in so I am very happy right now.

We get it. You just want to get back to normal.

We know first-hand the kind of devastation caused by a natural disaster.

In 2000, our law firm was badly damaged by a powerful tornado that ripped through downtown Fort Worth. Not only did it uproot our business, but it disrupted lives. Since that time, we’ve worked hard for countless other storm victims. We understand the need to get back on your feet and into your home and business. Most recently, we represented victims of Hurricane Sandy, one of the costliest hurricanes in US history.
