Personal Injury Settlements
People often ask if there is an average personal injury settlement amount so they can determine the value of their own case.
However, it’s not that simple.
In terms of dollar amount, there is no such thing as an “average” personal injury settlement. The value of a personal injury claim depends on the unique facts of the case, including the plaintiff’s damages, the defendant’s insurance coverage and their level of liability.
As far as attorneys’ fees, most personal injury cases are taken on a contingency fee basis, which means your attorney will only earn their fee if they recover an award on your behalf, either through a settlement or trial. Typical attorneys’ fees for a personal injury case are 33 1/3 % (one-third) of the gross recovery, plus any case related costs and expenses.
